Kakching:  Advancing the national vision of a drug-free society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Assam Rifles organized a comprehensive Anti-Drug Awareness Programme on 29 June at Sora in Kakching district, Manipur. Observed in step with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the initiative sought to fortify community-led resistance against narcotics by bridging the efforts of security forces, civil organizations and local citizens.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 164 individuals, including 113 students from General English School and Royal Brighter Academy, eight educators, 11 local youths, 29 villagers and three local police personnel. Moving away from traditional instruction, an interactive session led jointly by Assam Rifles personnel and representatives from three prominent anti-drug NGOs highlighted the devastating physical, mental and socio-economic consequences of substance abuse. The discussions laid special emphasis on early intervention and the pivotal role of youth in promoting healthy lifestyles. By educating the gathering on the legal and social ramifications of trafficking, the drive successfully channeled a shared sense of civic responsibility. The program concluded with a collective pledge by all attendees to maintain community vigilance, dismantle local drug networks and foster a safe, resilient environment across Kakching.
