Imphal: Assam Rifles, in close coordination with civil health authorities, launched a series of comprehensive Pulse Polio immunisation campaigns across the Tengnoupal and Imphal West districts between 28 and 29 June 2026. By bridging the gap in healthcare delivery for remote communities, these collaborative drives focused on administering life-saving oral polio vaccine drops to children under five years of age.
The initiative commenced on 28 June 2026 at Moreh, Tengnoupal district, where Assam Rifles partnered with the Primary Health Centre, Moreh, to establish a dedicated vaccination booth. This strategic three-day campaign, running until 30 June 2026, systematically targets local residents as well as transit communities. Security personnel actively managed the site, streamlined arrangements and educated guardians on routine immunisation protocols to guarantee maximum grassroots coverage.
Expanding the healthcare net, a simultaneous campaign was executed on 29 June 2026 at the Unit Hospital within the New Keithelmanbi Garrison in Imphal West district. Working in tandem with a civil district health team led by Senior Medical Officer Dr Yaiwang Konthonjam and Medical Officer Dr Bishwanath, the joint medical team successfully immunised 50 children from New Keithelmanbi and neighboring areas. Beyond vaccine administration, the drive educated parents on protecting youth against preventable diseases, showcasing a powerful institutional synergy dedicated to fortifying community health and resilience across Manipur.
