Imphal: The three-day awareness programme on promotion of science education in Tribal Areas of Senapati and Imphal East district concluded here on Sunday.

The programme organised by Unique Trust, under the sponsorship of NCSTC Division, Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India started on 25th March at Mount Everest Higher Secondary School, Taphou, Senapati district and ended at Kiyamgei Ideal High School Auditorium, Kyamgei Mayai Leikai on Sunday.
M. Premchandra Singh (MES), ZEO (Zone-II), Imphal East District, Manipur, Chanam Bobichand Singh, District Programme Manager, SSA, Imphal East and Dr. N. Rajmuhon Singh, Professor, Dept. of Chemistry, Manipur University participated as the Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively of the closing function.

Th. Kiranjit Meitei, President, Unique Trust expressed his sincere gratitude to the dignitary members, school authorities and all participants for their active participation in the programme.
He also stressed the importance of STEM education and said through this students can learn, connect, and interact every day which will be a foundation stone to succeed at school and beyond. Currently, 75 per cent of jobs in the fastest growing industries require workers with STEM skills.

During the programme, the Unique Trust highlights the role of STEM education for a sustainable economy in our country. As a part of the programme Unique Trust also organized various activities like mathematics puzzle, mathematics talent hunt, on spot painting competition, quiz competition, essay competition & Extempore speech to encourage them to learn STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) disciplines. An exhibition and demonstration of various models of new technology on Agriculture, Cleanliness, Smart Housing, etc. were also displayed during the programme.
