Imphal: In a coordinated effort to promote fitness, sportsmanship, and community harmony, security forces organised comprehensive sports events and awareness campaigns at several places in Manipur to celebrate International Olympic Day. Centred on the official global theme, “You Can Do This. Let’s Move”, the celebrations highlighted the transformative power of sports in building self-belief and overcoming physical inactivity among youth.
In Churachandpur district, security forces held an Olympic Day run and friendly matches at Aina village. The event drew enthusiastic participation from local youths, village elders, and children, who joined the security personnel in various physical activities designed to emphasize the importance of daily movement.
Simultaneously, a similar sports drive was conducted at Thungcheng village in Chandel district. Security personnel interacted closely with the participants, sharing valuable insights on how sports build essential life skills like resilience, perseverance, and teamwork. A joint group of 15 security officials and local community leaders coordinated the field events. The participants across both districts actively embraced the spirit of the day, pledging to integrate sports into their daily routines. The celebrations concluded with the distribution of sports kits to local youth clubs to encourage ongoing athletic engagement.
