Shillong: Meghalaya recorded the recovery of 173 more Covid-19 infected persons, surging the number of recovered cases to 79,346, three more deaths due to the viral disease of patients who had not been vaccinated and 113 new cases of infection, which added up to 1,310 active cases on Wednesday.
The State has so far registered 82,068 confirmed COVID-19 cases, as per data furnished by the directorate of health services.
Of the new Covid-19 cases detected, 55 were in the West Khasi Hills district, 37 in the East Khasi Hills district, eight in West Jaintia Hills district, four in Ri-Bhoi district, three each in South West Khasi Hills district and West Garo Hills district and one each in East Garo Hills district, East Jaintia Hills district and South Garo Hills district.
The East Khasi Hills, which includes State capital Shillong, is the most pandemic-hit district with 721 active COVID-19 cases, followed by West Khasi Hills district with 295 active cases, West Jaintia Hills district with 144 active cases and Ri-Bhoi district with 73 cases, West Garo Hills district with 23 active cases, South West Khasi Hills district with 22 active cases, East Jaintia Hills district with 12 active cases, East Garo Hills district with 10 active cases, South West Garo Hills district with five active cases, North Garo Hills district with three active cases and South Garo Hills district with two active cases, health officials said.
Of the 10,92,795 persons tested for Covid-19 in the State till today, 10,10,727 were tested negative for the virus.
On the other hand, 32,062 health care workers have received the first dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 and 27,272 have been administered with the second dose, 96961 front-line workers have got the first jab and 77,735 have taken the second shot, 9,46,975 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose and 3,91,666 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose till date, health officials said.
