NABM holds two-day training for akashvani presenters in Shillong

Shillong : The National Academy of Broadcasting and Multimedia (NABM), the apex Human Resource Development Training Academy of Prasar Bharati, in collaboration with the Regional Academy of Broadcasting and Multimedia (RABM), Shillong, successfully organised a two-day training programme titled “Empowering Presenters: On-Air Excellence in Akashvani” on September 14th and 15th in Shillong.

A total of 30 newly inducted casual assignees from Akashvani Shillong, the North Eastern Service and Community Radio Station (CRS), Nongstoin, participated in the programme, which aimed to enhance their professional skills and strengthen the quality of radio presentation.

The programme commenced on September 14 with its inauguration by Rehan Ahmad Warsi, Additional Director General (Training), Prasar Bharati, in the presence of the Course Director, Dr. D. K. Mazumder, Programme Executive, NABM, New Delhi.

The inauguration was attended by Anthony War, HOO/Cluster Head, Akashvani Shillong; B. Zoramthangi, Head of Programme, Akashvani Shillong; S. Chongloi, North Eastern Service; Lucy Mary Malngiang, Programme Executive, RABM Shillong; and Grace Temsen, Assistant Engineer, Akashvani Shillong.

The training programme covered key aspects of professional radio presentation, including the role and responsibilities of an announcer, diction, pronunciation, language discipline, microphone techniques, voice culture, breathing and vocal fitness. Sessions also focused on audience engagement, linguistic strategies for effective communication, live studio presentation, articulation and intonation in English programmes and Western music.

The participants also underwent practical sessions on on-air simulation, impromptu presentation and professional feedback to strengthen their confidence and presentation skills.

The programme featured an experienced panel of resource persons, including Smt. Basilica Nongpluh, Senior Announcer, Akashvani Shillong; Prof. M. P. Pandey, Department of Hindi, NEHU, Shillong Campus; Arkin Pariat, Retired ADP, Akashvani Shillong; Prof. T. K. Bamon, Dean, School of Liberal Studies, MIT University of Meghalaya; Kloisimon Kharsyntiew, Senior Announcer, Akashvani Shillong; and Dipankar Nandi, General Secretary, Meghalaya Yoga Association, Shillong.

The initiative reinforces Prasar Bharati’s commitment to the professional development of broadcasting personnel and the promotion of clear, credible and engaging radio presentation for listeners across Meghalaya and the North Eastern region.
