Kohima: The inaugural programme of the newly recognised Tseminyu District Headquarter was held on Thursday at the Rengma Sports Association Ground of Tseminyu town with Chief Minister Nagaland Neiphiu Rio as the Special Guest and Adviser for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary & Women Resources Development, R. Khing was the Host.
According to official sources speaking on the occasion Rio said although Rengma is a small tribe, their contribution is enormous. He mentioned that the first Naga Flag was woven by Rengma Lady and was first hosted in Rengma territory.
He urged the Rengmas and the young generation to carry forward their rich legacies. Rio mentioned that the representative R. Khing has worked hard for the creation of the district.
He thanked all the cabinet colleagues and all the elected members, NGOs, Churches, various civil societies, Hohos for the support of his leadership for which we have been able to create the four districts and many other developments in the state.
“Today I am happy and share my happiness for the 13th district and pray that God bless Tseminyu to be a role model for other Districts,” the chief minister said. Chairman of the programme was Deputy Commissioner Tseminyu Dr, Zasekhuolie Chusi and the welcome address was delivered by the President of the Rengma Hoho Pollem Tep.
Earlier the Chief Minister unveiled the Monolith of Tseminyu District. Short speeches were delivered by Minister of Health and Family Welfare S. Pangnyu Phom; Adviser of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs Dr. Neikiesalie Kire; Adviser for Information Technology & Communication, Science and Technology & NRE Mmhonlumo Kikon; MLA Yitachu and Commissioner Nagaland, the release said.
