Kohima: People in this capital city of Nagaland are gearing up to face freezing cold in the coming days with the weatherman on Thursday predicting that the mercury was likely to dip to zero degree Celsius.
The city experienced snowfall in the past few days, and is likely to hit a minimum temprature of zero degree Celsius, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and the Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati said in a weather update.
The maximum temperature is likely to go up to 12 degree Celsius. Among other districts, Phek is expected to have a minimum and maximum temperature of 3°C and 19°C, Aghunato under Zunheboto district will have a minimum and maximum temperature of 2°C and 17°C respectively.
Kiphire will have minimum and maximum temperature of 5°C and 22°C and Tuensang will have a minimum and maximum temperature of 4°C and 18°C during this period, the update said.
The NSDMA urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period. NSDMA has also requested all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other departments concerned to remain alert attend to any emergencies caused by natural calamities.
