Imphal: Education Minister S. Rajen Singh launched University & Higher Education Digital Support Scheme (UHEDSS), Wednesday. The launching function was organised by the Department of University & Higher Education, Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion at DM College of Teachers’ Education, Rajen claimed that education sector has becomes one of the most improved sectors in the state. The government has endeavoured to improve education sector in the state as a priority. Departmental funds have also been utilised transparently on a priority basis, he added.
He said that the departmental officials and staffs are also working as a combined team to reform and improve the education sector. The digital format of teaching is also an advanced mode of teaching which is introduced with the objective to compete with the most advanced learning centres.
Minister Rajen said that state colleges are still not excelling in NAAC scoring. He maintained that there have been sensitisation and awareness programmes conducted in colleges (government and aided) of the state regarding NAAC score. This campaign will help a lot.
Minister Rajen also maintained that the teachers should stop approaching local MLAs and higher authorities for transfer and posting. He also opined that there is need for working together in cooperation and understanding. Process to recruit required college teachers to fill the vacant posts is under full process, he informed.
Speaking at the occasion Chief Secretary, Manipur Dr. Rajesh Kumar, IAS, informed that colleges of the state will be facilitated with full digital learning facility by the month of June, next year.
Commissioner Hr. & Tech. Education M. Harekrishna and Director, Dr. Rangitabali Waikhom, also attended the launching function.
