Chandel: Assam Rifles paid solemn homage to Havildar (late) Luhit Gogoi on the anniversary of his supreme sacrifice by conducting a wreath-laying ceremony with full military honours on 15 June 2026 at Joupi in Chandel district, Manipur. The brave soldier had laid down his life while displaying exceptional courage and devotion to duty during an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast on 15 June 2017. This tragic incident occurred while he was performing duties at a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) in General Area Kangkum, Kamjong district, Manipur.
A total of 85 personnel and officials gathered at the memorial site to pay their respectful tributes and observe a moment of silence in memory of the fallen hero. The collective gathering reflected deeply upon the indomitable spirit, unwavering commitment and supreme devotion displayed by the braveheart in the face of adversity. This solemn commemoration successfully reaffirmed the enduring commitment of the Assam Rifles to preserving the glorious legacy of its martyrs.
