Manipur Governor Ganesan visits Jribam, interacts with CSO representatives, DLOs

Churachandpur: Governor of Manipur, La Ganesan paid a maiden visit to Jiribam district Friday. The Governor attended an interaction program with representatives of CSOs and District Level Officers at District Police Multipurpose Hall organized by the district administration, Jiribam.

Congratulating the district on achieving 100 % vaccination for COVID-19, he stressed the dangers of the new variant of covid-19 called ‘Omicron’. He appealed to the members present to maintain cleanliness and cooperate with one another to keep the district ‘clean and green’.

The Governor lauded the district on achieving an 88% literacy rate in this remote area with ‘no report of insurgency in the area’ in the absence of fencing at the borders. He also congratulated the district administration for Jiribam becoming the cleanest town among the towns with less than 23 thousand population in India, North East Zone. He asked the public gathering to pursue good work and contribute to the well-being and development of society.

He urged the people to avail schemes like Van Dhan Yojana under Tribal Affairs Ministry to improve income through value addition of products based on skills and abilities which including life insurance coverage through it. “Please visit your district level officers and get details of the various schemes to develop the district thereby developing Manipur”, he added.

Later, the governor interacted with district level officers and leaders and representatives of civil society organizations. The interaction session witnessed notes of appreciation from civil society leaders for his kind and goodwill visit to the district. Governor Ganesan also responded to the few queries and appeals made by the civil society leaders during the interaction session as well.
