Manipur government declares July 4 a holiday

Imphal: The Government of Manipur has declared July 4, 2024, as a public holiday for all government offices, including public sector undertakings, corporations, autonomous bodies, and societies under the Government of Manipur, according to an order issued on Wednesday.

This order follows a previous government order from July 2, 2024, which declared July 3, 2024, as a public holiday.

All banks, financial institutions, and UC, etc., located in the state will also remain closed on July 4, 2024. The order appeals to the general public to stay indoors and refrain from going out except for emergencies, allowing authorities to carry out rescue and relief works smoothly.

However, as per the order, departments involved in rescue and relief operations and essential services—namely, Home, Police, Fire Services, District Administration, Relief & Disaster Management, Power, Health & Family Welfare, PHE, Water Resources, PWD, GAD, CAF&PD, MI, Forests, LDA, etc.—will continue to work on July 4.

Additionally, officers and employees of all other departments will be available on phone call for any eventuality, the order added.
