Kakching hosts Tiranga & Vande Mataram exhibition

The exhibition showcased the evolution of the Indian National Flag from 1904 to 1947, highlighting key stages in its development.

Kakching: On the concluding day of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign, a “Tiranga and Vande Mataram Exhibition” was held today under the supervision of the District Administration Kakching.

The event was jointly organised by the Block Development Officer (BDO), Kakching, CD Block in collaboration with Zonal Education Officer, Kakching at Community Hall, DC Office Complex, Kakching.

Evolution of Tiranga was displayed at the exhibition showing the changes in the Indian national flag, spanning major milestones from 1904 to 1947.

The first flag displayed the flag of 1904, designed by Sister Nivedita followed by 1906 flag – first Tricolour flag written Vande Mataram, next showed the flag of same year the Calcutta flag (first unofficial flag) of 1906, the Saptarishi/Madam Cama Flag of 1907, the Home Rule Movement Flag of 1917, the Bezwada Charkha Flag of 1921, the Swaraj Flag of 1931 and present National Flag of India (Tiranga) of 1947.

Altogether 31 students participated in the event from Irengband Upper Primary School (UPS), Kakching Khullen UPS, Kakching Higher Secondary School, MMS Genius Academy and Grace Cottage Cultural & Educational Development Foundation. The students showcased posters, drawings and art & crafts works made by them at the exhibition.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Ph. Bhavananda Sharma, BDO Kakching, CD Block; Okram Sandhyarani Devi, Zonal Educational Officer; M. Rakesh Singh along officials of District Administration Kakching, teachers and officials of schools attended the event.

The fifth edition of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, which officially commenced on August 9, concluded today. Active participation by the children in activities with the campaign were designed to instil patriotism, teach national heritage, and foster a personal and respectful connection with the tricolour from a young age.
