Manipur: Dist Hqs observe National Voters’ Day

In Churachandpur, the 12th National Voters’ Day with the theme ‘Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative’ was celebrated at DTC Hall, Toibong.

Imphal: National Voters’ Day was celebrated in various district headquarters of Manipur on Tuesday by the respective District Election Offices.

In Bishnupur,  the District Election Office, Bishnupur and Nehru Yuva Kendra, Bishnupur in association with Lingthoinganbi Leishaphan Girls Club, Ithing observed National Voters Day at Ithing Community Hall, Moirang in Bishnupur. 

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, District Election Officer, Bishnupur, L. Bikram, apprised young voters that youths are capable of making informed decisions to elect the best decision-makers for the state and country. Acknowledging that youth also has the power to change the system, he encouraged young voters who comprised of 7.44 % of the total electors of the district to exercise their franchise rights. 

To mark the occasion, Electoral Photo Identity Cards were distributed to newly enrolled voters during the function. Prizes for the district-level Ballot Battle Quiz competition conducted earlier was also distributed to the winners. Mentioned may be made that Team Bishnupur bagged the first position in the ballot quiz competition at the state level finale.

A technical session on “Youth drugs and Human Trafficking: Critical challenges” was also delivered by Director, Childline Bishnupur L. Pishak Singh, during the observance. District youth convention and cultural programs also marked the occasion.

RO, Thanga, Rishikanta, SVEEP Nodal Office, Bishnupur Dr. Salam Dhanachandra, , newly enrolled voters and youths attended the observance.

Addressing the gathering, Addl. District Election Officer, Yumnam Nelson said that we are empowered with duty and responsibility in electing the right leader and the privileged given to us as voters. He urged the young voters to inculcate the message of ethical and informed voting for the betterment of society.

Asst. Election Supervisor Dingluaia Varte, administered the NVD pledge. EPICs, NVD caps and T-shirts were also distributed to the newly enrolled voters during the function. Winners of the district-level ballot battle quiz competition and painting competitions were awarded citations and cash prizes.

DLOs, Officials from the district election office, students and newly enrolled voters attended the function.
