Imphal: Amid the devastating second wave of Covid-19 in the state, Sekmai Assembly constituency MLA Heisnam Dingo Singh Sunday appealed to all citizens of the constituency, in particular, to get inoculated as soon as possible.
“I would urge everyone to get vaccinated …Vaccination is the best way to prevent the spread of coronavirus, including this new Delta variant, and prevent serious illness,” said Dingo, also co-convener of the Joint Committee of Covid-19.
Dingo stated this while distributing Covid-19 relief materials to some 80 households of Loitang Khunou, which is now declared as a containment zone.
So far, 14,516 eligible adults have received the first dose of the vaccine in three PHCs – Sekmai CHC, Khurkhul PHC and Phayeng PHC, and nearly 3,300 people have been tested for Covid-19 in 27 villages of the constituency, he informed. However, he lamented, the number is quite low in comparison with other districts and constituencies of the state.
Taking note of the alarming Covid-19 situation, the MLA said the RAT testing will be continued till the last house of his constituency.
The lawmaker also assured the public of his unwavering commitment to engage and fight the raging coronavirus crisis together as he announced that he will be there for them for any situation and eventuality due to the pandemic.
MLA Dingo also expressed his sincere gratitude to Dr. Premchand Singh, MO, Khurkhul PHC, and volunteers of Sekmai AC Covid-19 Frontline Warrior Group for their dedication and hard work in containing the spread of the disease in the constituency.
