Imphal: Manipur on Sunday recorded 527 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country caseload to 64,065, while the death toll soared to 1,047 with eight more fatalities.
Eight persons – one each at RIMS and District Hospital Churachandpur, four at JNIMS and two at District Hospital Thoubal expired. Among them one each was from Imphal West, Bishnupur, Kakching and Churachandpur, two each from Imphal East and Thoubal.
According to the state Health Department, the active cases increased by 527 to stand at 9,613.
Imphal West continued to be worst affected district in Manipur with total active cases of 169 and followed by Imphal East at 78. This was followed by Bishnupur at 66 and Thoubal at 62. Pherzawl has neither positive case nor death report as on Sunday.
The past 24 hours saw 444 people, out of which 288 are from home isolation, recovered from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 53,405. The recovery rate is 83.36 per cent.
Manipur tested 4,491 samples; out of these 4049 were RT-PCR tests, TruNat and CBNAAT tests while the rest were antigen tests.
Manipur has vaccinated 4,93,501 people out of which 3924 people vaccinated on Sunday.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1643 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 367 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
