Chief Minister Honours Olympic bronze winner Loveline & coach Sandhya Gurung

Gangtok: Tokyo Olympic Bronze medal winner boxer Loveline Borgohain, was honoured by Governor Ganga Prasad and Chief Minister PS Tamang, on Wednesday at his official residence along with her Sikkim born National coach Sandhya Gurung.

Chief Minister PS Tamang, has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 Lakhs to Loveline and Rs 5 Lakhs for her Coach Sandhya Gurung to be given on November 14, 2021, said Jacob Khaling Political Secretary to the CM.

MP Lok Sabha Indra Hang Subba said the feel of the Bronze medal win by Loveline was beyond words. He further announced that the National Coach will be conferred with the ‘Dronacharya Award.’ by the Government of India in Delhi on November 13, 2021.

The award is given to the Guru who turns a disciple into a shining star. Boxer Loveline will be given Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award on November 13, 2021. Kuber Bhandari, President Sikkim Olympic Association, Arjuna awardee Jus Lal Pradhan with former Sports Secretary were also part of the felicitation programme.
