Kangpokpi: Assam Rifles personnel provided medical assistance and facilitated the emergency evacuation of a nineteen-year-old pregnant woman on 29 June 2026.
A resident of Manamjang Village in Kangpokpi district, the woman was brought to the Keithalmanbi Garrison Unit Hospital after developing labour pains at Janglenphai Village. On examination by the medical team, she was diagnosed with a full-term pregnancy in Stage I of labour with rupture of membranes, requiring immediate intervention. The medical team assessed and stabilised the patient at the garrison hospital.
Following initial stabilisation, a combined team of five Assam Rifles medical personnel and troops evacuated the patient to the Government Medical College in Imphal. The security forces accompanied the patient throughout the transit, navigating challenging arterial roads to provide uninterrupted medical monitoring and vital security assistance during the journey.
The successful evacuation highlights the requirement for rapid medical response for civilians residing in remote areas, where difficult terrain and distance from tertiary medical facilities often delay access to specialised treatment. By providing both medical expertise and transport support, the personnel ensured the expectant mother received advanced medical management for a safe delivery.
