Chandel: Assam Rifles personnel deployed in Khengjoi Sub Division of Chandel District, Manipur distributed two high-capacity water storage tanks to T Bollon village on 30 June 2026 to resolve a long-standing shortage of continuous water supply.

The village had previously suffered from inadequate storage capacity and acute seasonal shortages, prompting the Village Chief and community elders to approach the security forces with their grievance. Responding to the request, the personnel provided two 500-litre water storage tanks to facilitate the establishment of a centralized community water point. The asset distribution took place during a simple ceremony attended by Assam Rifles officilas and personnel alongwith 30 local villagers, including village elders, women and youth. The initiative is set to directly benefit more than 130 residents by easing daily hardships, particularly for women and children who previously travelled long distances to fetch water during the dry season. Officials present during the event highlighted that this infrastructure serves as a major step towards establishing a permanent village water supply scheme from a perennial source, reinforcing their commitment to working alongside the local populace for socio-economic development. Village elders expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, noting that the tanks would ensure reliable access to clean water for drinking, cooking and sanitation throughout the year.
