Assam: One arrested in DIG’s mobile phone snatching case

Guwahati: A man was arrested on Thursday by the Assam Police in Nagarbera, Kamrup, for allegedly snatching the mobile phone of DIG Vivek Raj Singh.

The theft took place while the senior officer was out for his morning walk in the Ulubari area.

The suspect, identified as Javed Ali, was apprehended by the Nagarbera Police on Thursday based on their suspicions regarding his involvement in the case. He was later handed over to the Guwahati Police for further investigation.

During the interrogation, Javed Ali confessed to using tracking software to locate the mobile phone of the top cop and then hatching a plan to snatch it. Shockingly, he also admitted to being involved in similar mobile phone snatching incidents across Guwahati.

It should be noted that DIG Vivek Raj Singh holds a crucial position as the DIG for law and order.
