Kakching: The third review meeting on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll, with July 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, was held today at the DC Conference Hall in Kakching District. The meeting was chaired by Electoral Roll Observer for Kakching district, Haobam Rosita, IAS.
The meeting was held in presence of Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer Kakching, Angeline Renita R, IAS; ADC/ADM, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Election Officer and representatives of recognised National and State political parties functioning in the district.
Sharing an update on the SIR progress for the district, Kakching DC/DEO Angeline Renita R stated that the district has completed the SIR process.
She informed that the total number of electors in the Draft Electoral Roll published on July 5, 2026 for the district was 1,15,286, of which notices were required to be generated for 82,391 electors. Of these, 82,383 notices were delivered, while 8 could not be delivered.
She said verifications have been completed for 1,15,275 electors, accounting for 99.99 per cent. Verification could not be completed for only 11 electors, accounting for less than 0.01 per cent.
DC Renita also congratulated all EROs, AEROs and members of the election team for their efforts in completing the SIR process. She also thanked the representatives of all political parties for their cooperation during the process.
SIR is conducted with an objective ensuring a clean, inclusive and error-free Electoral Roll through a systematic verification and citizen participation.
It may be mentioned that Final Electoral Roll is scheduled to be published on September 6, 2026.
