Chandel: A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was organised at Modi Garrison in Chandel district, Manipur, on 25 July 2026 to pay homage to Martyr Rifleman (GD) Sube Singh Jat. The commemorative event was conducted to honour the supreme sacrifice of the brave soldier and reaffirm the steadfast commitment of the Force towards preserving the legacy of its fallen heroes.
Rifleman (GD) Sube Singh Jat attained martyrdom on 25 July 1974 during an operation in the Longyang area of Mokokchung district, Nagaland. Displaying exceptional courage, determination and devotion to duty, he laid down his life while safeguarding the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Nation. His gallantry and indomitable spirit continue to serve as a source of inspiration for generations of personnel.
Assam Rifles personnel gathered at the memorial to pay heartfelt tributes by laying wreaths and floral offerings. A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of profound respect and gratitude for the supreme sacrifice made by the fallen hero in service to the Nation. The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the valour and selflessness displayed by the bravehearts of Assam Rifles in the line of duty, reinforcing the core ethos of duty, honour and sacrifice that form the bedrock of the Force.
