Guwahati: For the third consecutive day, Assam logged Covid19 cases above 8,000, the state bulletin said on Thursday.
According to the National Health Mission, on Wednesday 8,399 new cases of the infection have been detected out of the 64,699 conducted tests. The overall positivity rate stood at 12.89 per cent.
Out of the total cases, Kamrup Metro which consists of Guwahati city and its adjoining areas counted for 1929 cases alone.
15 deaths were reported on Wednesday due to the virus. The recovery rate of Covid19 patients has come down to 93.62 per cent.
Meanwhile, Assam State Health Department has directed that no emergency patients can be kept waiting for treatment for Covid19 test results.
