Arunachal registers 435 fresh Covid19 cases, tally at 57,822

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday recorded a whooping 435 new Covid19 cases – the highest single-day surge in infection in the third wave of the pandemic this year, exceeding its previous highest when it logged 404 cases on Tuesday last.

Of the fresh cases, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest 138 cases, followed by West Kameng (40), Changlang (37), Namsai (35), Lower Dibang Valley (31), Lohit (28), Papum Pare (26), Lower Subansiri (23), East Siang (22), Longding (15) and Lower Siang (10).

232 of the total cases were found to be asymptomatic and 203 symptomatic, the official said, while adding that the day’s positivity rate was logged at 26.75 per cent, which was figured at 24.17 per cent on Wednesday.

The Northeastern state had tested 1626 samples for Covid19 that took its cumulative count to 12,21,290.

The state’s Covid19 death toll remained unchanged at 282 as no fresh casualty was reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh administered 4784 Covid19 vaccine jabs to its eligible citizens in the past 24 hours, taking its cumulative vaccination coverage to over 15,50,443, State Immunization Officer D Padung said.
