Imphal: The State Water Resources Department informed that in view of the incessant rain in the catchment area of Ethai Barrage and consecutive flood-like situation, Chief Minister N.Biren Singh has given instruction for continuous monitoring of the flood-like situation and accordingly, appropriate measures have been taken up at the site of Barrage by the Department.
CMD, NHPC and Group General Manager, Loktak Power Station have discussed the matter. As per the statement at present, Barrage and Power House are under normal operation. Normal Full Reservoir Level (FRL) is maintained in the upstream of Imphal River and normal water levels is observed in Loktak Lake.
According to the statement of the department, as of now, Barrage gates are being operated as per the Standard Operating Protocol. Against the normal discharge of about 90 cubic meters per second(cumec), flood discharge at about 235 cumec is passing safely downstream and Central Gate is already kept open with a gate opening of 1.5 meters.
The Department has also opened a control room in connection with flood situations and the Control Room is kept on full alert to deal with any flood-like situation. Anyone can contact for any Emergency matter regarding the flood situation on the given Numbers -0385-2451550 or 2450195.
