With 22 deaths, Manipur records highest toll in two months

Imphal: Manipur recorded the highest single-day rise in its Covid-19 death toll in the last two months with 22 more people succumbing to the infection on Tuesday, according to the latest bulletin issued by the State health department. The State recorded its highest death toll on 19 May 2021 at 23.  

During the same period, the state also recorded 788 fresh cases and 588 persons recovered from the same disease.

The 22 persons who succumbed on Tuesday, included 5 each from Imphal West and Kakching, 4 from Bishnupur, 2 from Chandel and 1 each from Kangpokpi and Churachandpur. The cumulative death toll in the state now stands at 1309.

Of the 788 persons (384 males, 404 females) from the general population who tested positive, 199 are from Imphal East, 165 are from Imphal West, 120 are from Churachandpur, 80 from Bishnupur, 78 from Thoubal, 47 from Kakching, 24 from Senapati, 19 from Ukhrul, 13 from Kangpokpi, 12 from Jiribam, 3 each from Tengnoupal and Kamjong.

While, of the 588 persons who recovered and were discharged, 227 of them are from home isolation, 219 from CHICs, 120 from CCCs, 15 from RIMS and 7 from JNIMS. The recovery rate in the state further dips to 88.64%.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 79,417(General Population – 75,492, Central Security Personnel – 3,925). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 70,402(General Population – 66,579, Central Security Personnel – 3,823). The number of active cases is 7,706(General Population – 7,609 Central Security Personnel – 97).

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1940D type Oxygen Cylinders and 379B type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur. District hospitals and government institutions have 355D type and 89B type filled cylinders out of which  Bishnupur (77D, 0B), Chandel (26D, 5B), Churachandpur (25D, 0B), Senapati (40D, 0B), Thoubal (65D, 30B), Ukhrul (17D, 18B), Tamenglong (20D, 0B), Jiribam (48D, 13B), Moreh (9D,0B), Kamjong (3D, 2B), Kangpokpi (3D, 0B), Kakching (14D, 15B), Pherzawl (6D, 2B) and Noney(2D, 0B). CCCs have 379D and 124B filled oxygen cylinders available Tuesday.

14,369persons were vaccinated on June July 12, 2021. The cumulative number of vaccination is 8,90,643(1st dose 7,94,672, 2nd dose 95,971).

The official release further informed that the number of patients admitted/adjusted as on July 12 against available bed strength in different treatment facilities in the state are RIMS(218/224), JNIMS(220/286), I land Hospital(25/60), district Covid facilities (154/332), MSF(29/30), private Covid hospitals(218/260), CCCs 1171/2906). Grand total of admitted patients is 2036 and beds available is 2162.
