Purba Burdhaman: A sixty-year-old patient was burnt alive when a fire broke out in the Covid-19 ward in West Bengal’s Bardhaman Medical College and Hospital on Saturday, police said.
The fire broke out at around 0430 hours on Block No 6 at a Covid-19 ward where Sandhya Mondal, a resident of Boromuria village of Galsy police station, was killed. Hospital sources said altogether four pandemic patients were in the ward, which has now been sealed.
The remaining three patients have been shifted to an isolated ward in the hospital. The ward was sealed immediately after the fire brigade personnel extinguished the flames within half an hour.
