- Srinagar: Security forces arrested three suspected militant associates along with arms in Kashmir, officials said on Saturday. They said the trio affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Toiba’s “The Resistance Front” group were arrested at a mobile checkpoint in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday. “The three terrorist associates were arrested during naka checking in Shuhama area of Ganderbal,” a police statement said.
- The three were identified as Faisal Manzoor of Braripora Shopian, Azhar Yaqoob of Zaipora Shopain and Nasir Ahmad Dar of Begam Kulgam. “Two Chinese pistols, three pistol magazines, 15 rounds of ammunition and two hand grenades besides three mobile phones were recovered from their possession,” the statement said.
- “During preliminary questioning, the trio revealed their affiliation with the proscribed outfit LeT/TRF and had indulged in various terror related activities in the district,” it added. Police have registered a case and investigation have been taken up. “More arrests and recoveries are expected in the case,” it said.
