Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday announced his government has taken initiative to set up a third medical college in the state at the headquarters of aspirational district Dhalai while persuading to establish a Regional Institute of Medical Science with AIIMS-like facilities to ensure adequate and compatible healthcare service to the people.
Tripura has two medical colleges having a capacity of 100 in each college including one run by the government-nominated society since 2005. Besides, improving the healthcare service and medical education at the district level, the state government has been working on a plan to set up another medical college at Ambassa, he pointed out.
The proposal has already been sent to the central government for necessary clearance and funding, the Chief Minister said adding that the project is at the final stage of consideration. Tripura government is committed to improving the infrastructure of every university in the state.
