Tripura starts house to house survey in Agartala to trace out Covid patient

Agartala: Following a consistent spike of Covid-19 cases in the capital city, the Tripura government has begun a house to house survey in Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) areas from today to ensure no infected person remains out of trace.

The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sadar Asim Saha said as many as 466 survey teams have been mobilized to visit every house across 51 Wards of AMC to collect the information about the persons having influenza-like symptoms and other symptoms that correlates the indication of Covid-19.

The health department has been asked to set up an adequate number of testing centres in each of the Wards and devise the mechanism to bring all the symptomatic and suspected cases under Covid testing to contain further spread of the disease, Saha said.

“The survey team comprises community-level health workers, Anganwadi workers, representatives of civil administration and AMC. They are asked to finish the survey work within three days and accordingly the testing of the suspected persons will be carried out in the specific locations,” he stated.

Saha, however, pointed out that a series of steps have been undertaken to arrest the spread of Covid-19 within and outside AMC areas and added that the health department has also taken steps to contain the coronavirus in the other towns and rural parts of Tripura. Besides, an intensive vaccination drive of the age group of 18 years above has begun along with the remaining people of 45 years plus group.

“As of now, Tripura is in a comfortable condition in terms of positivity, the spread of infection and arrangement of treatment facilities. At present, the government has emphasized on preventing the infection at the community level and bringing down the severity of the disease by adopting multi-prong strategies,” Saha claimed.

Meanwhile, the Tripura government has started a third phase vaccination for the age group of 18 to 44 years from yesterday with the first consignment of 15,150 doses of Covaxin and on the first day, about 1200 people of the city were vaccinated in six locations of Agartala.

Tripura has 4034 active Covid cases with a 5.04 per cent positivity rate while 426 people died so far.
