Thoubal District observes Bijli Mohatsav, Ujala Diwas at Khongjom

The programme was attended by MLA Wangjing Tentha AC, P.Brojen Singh, and DC Thoubal, A.Subhash Singh as chief guest and president.

Thoubal: District Administration Thoubal observed the Bijli Mahotsav and Ujala Diwas at Khongjom Thursday as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. 

The programme was attended by MLA Wangjing Tentha AC, P.Brojen Singh, and DC Thoubal, A.Subhash Singh as chief guest and president. 

Speaking at the function MLA Brojen said electricity is an important component in the development process of a State. He said under the leadership of  Prime Minister Narendra Modi various initiatives have been taken up and changes have been made in various fields. He appealed to the people to use the power judiciously as without power, life would be in a grave condition in this modern world. 

In his speech Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal, A.Subhash Singh, IAS, said that observation of such a programme will bring awareness to the public about the importance of power as almost all the activities of life from the morning we wake up from bed till we go to bed in the night is connected with electricity. 

As part of the programme, several films showcasing household and village electrification were screened. Films related to consumer rights, State’s achievements, capacity addition and renewable energy were also screened as part of the Diwas. People who attended the event appreciated the steps taken up by the Government for bringing such changes in their life. They said that daily life would have been in darkness if they didn’t get such benefits from the Government. 

The program was also attended by DGM, MSPDCL Thoubal Division and CEO Thoubal Zilla Parishad.
