ADC Senapati holds Inter-College PPT competition

Senapati: The Autonomous District Council (ADC), Senapati, organised an Inter-College District-Level PowerPoint Presentation Competition at the DRDA Hall, Senapati, today as part of the Seva Sankalp Utsav 2026. The competition was held on the theme “Innovation and Challenges in Solid Waste Management and Flood Mitigation in the District.”

The competition brought together students from various colleges across the district, including Mt. Everest College, Mt. Pisgah College, St. Xavier College, Mt. Zion College, Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram, Hill College, Tadubi, and Asufii Christian Institute, Mao Punanamei. The participating students presented innovative ideas, practical solutions and locally relevant approaches to address the growing challenges of solid waste management and flood mitigation in Senapati district.

Delivering the keynote address, A. Adahrii Maheo, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Senapati and Chief Executive Officer, ADC Senapati, described the programme as an important platform for students, officials and community stakeholders to exchange ideas and explore practical solutions to local challenges.

He highlighted the rapid transformation witnessed by Senapati over the past several decades, driven by population growth, changing lifestyles, increased vehicular movement and the expansion of residential settlements. These changes, he observed, have also brought new challenges, particularly in the management of solid waste and the mitigation of urban flooding.

Speaking on the growing concern of urban flooding, the ADC emphasised the need for a coordinated approach involving community participation, district administration and appropriate policy interventions. He encouraged the students to explore innovative and locally relevant solutions that could strengthen resilience and improve preparedness against flooding and other environmental challenges.

Calling upon the students to view themselves as future stakeholders in the development of Senapati, He urged them to think beyond conventional approaches and come forward with practical, sustainable and innovative ideas suited to the local context.

The programme also featured the presentation of certificates and prizes to the winners and participants. Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram secured the first position, followed by Mt. Pisgah College in second place and St. Xavier College in third place.

The programme was attended by District Level Officers, members of the Karong Senapati Town Committee, teachers, village leaders and representatives, among others.
