Sonowal urges citizens to celebrate Bihu adhering to COVID 19 protocol

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has appealed to all to adhere to COVID appropriate behaviour during the Rongali Bihu festival.
Extending his wishes, Sonowal urged the people of Assam to celebrate the Rongali Bihu festival maintaining COVID 19 protocol.
Sonowal addressed the Deputy Commissioners (DC), Joint Directors of Health, and other stakeholders associated with COVID 19 management through a video conference Tuesday.
Sonowal asked the DCs to focus on creating micro-containment zones coupled with extensive testing to prevent the pandemic snowballs into a major health crisis.
He said, ”The second wave of the novel coronavirus pandemic pushed up the daily surge of positive cases in some parts of the country, Assam has not fully witnessed the spike of positive cases till now. Therefore, the DCs are to enforce the protective guards to help their respective districts to check the spike in positive cases.”
The CM also asked the DCs to take all steps to make the Prime Minister’s call for ‘Tika Utsav’ a success. He said, ”The inoculation drives in all the districts should be intensified to all the eligible people. At the same time, the DCs are to use their men and machineries to speed up the testing.”
