Punjab: 5 children among six people die due to drowning near Ludhiana

Bodies of three children and the youth have been fished out from the pond and kept in Civil Hospital.

Ludhiana: Six people, including five children, died due to drowning in a pond in Mangarh village in this district on Friday.

Four children, identified as Monu, Lakshmi, Aarti and Priya, belonged to one family originally from Rehtan village near Lucknow while the fifth child was identified as Kaleem (10) of Shandila village near Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh.

The 22-year-old youth Rahul was also died when he tried to rescue the children.

Bodies of three children and the youth have been fished out from the pond and kept in Civil Hospital.

Police have started investigations.
