Kangpokpi: In a dedicated effort to promote public hygiene, environmental awareness and community participation, Assam Rifles organised a comprehensive Village Sanitation and Awareness Campaign at Kangpokpi district today. Conducted by local troops in close consultation with village authorities, the initiative aimed at mitigating sanitation and drainage challenges frequently encountered during the monsoon season.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from a combined group of 10 security personnel and 26 village volunteers, including elders and youth representatives, who joined forces to address local requirements. Together, the participants undertook extensive cleaning of public spaces, village pathways and community areas. They cleared accumulated waste, plastic litter and debris for appropriate disposal, while simultaneously restoring drainage channels and water run-off routes to ensure unobstructed rainwater flow and mitigate waterlogging risks.
Alongside the physical clean-up, an informative awareness session was conducted to sensitise residents on personal hygiene, waste segregation and environmental conservation. Discussions highlighted the critical importance of preventing water-borne and vector-borne diseases during the rainy season, encouraging sustainable sanitation practices to preserve the village ecosystem. This community-oriented initiative not only addressed a vital seasonal requirement but also strengthened the enduring bonds of trust and cooperation between Assam Rifles and the local populace, concluding with a collective pledge to maintain a healthy, sustainable living environment.
