Imphal: Manipur’s Textiles, Commerce and Industries Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh held a video conference with Yazaki India Pvt. Ltd from his office chamber at New Secretariat, Thursday morning and welcomed the company’s proposal to set up its wire harness manufacturing unit in the State and provide employment to the youth of the State.
During the conference, Yazaki India Pvt. Ltd Managing Director Prashanth Nayak proposed setting up its manufacturing unit in Manipur and providing more than 1500 jobs for the local youth with a special focus on womenfolk. Prashanth said that the company is presently focused on the development of domestic business with eight locations and 11 plants set up across the country. However, with Manipur, the company plans to touch international boundaries by setting up export-oriented units in the State.
Biswajit welcomed the proposal and said that he would place the proposal before the State cabinet. He said the proposal to generate employment in the State is very much appreciable and would be an encouragement to our society. He said an increase in the number of entrepreneurs will minimise the unemployment issue in the State.
He further welcomed the company’s commitment to focus more on empowering womenfolk. He said that the Prime Minister also gives strong thrust on empowerment of women in our country.
Expressing that the present government has brought tremendous changes in the State and that there is peace in the State now, he invited the company officials to visit the State once the present lockdown is lifted. Perception and reality are very much different, he said, adding that in the past, people from outside the State used to have a negative perception of the State. But now, there is peace and development in the State, he added.
The Minister also highlighted the industrial and investment policy of Manipur and the Single Window Clearance System.
Further reiterating the need to place the proposal before the State Cabinet, Shri Biswajit also assured all possible cooperation and support from the government.
The Video Conference was attended by Commissioner T,C&I RK Dinesh Singh, Director Industries L Bikram, Joint Secretary Mercina Panmei among others.
