Meghalaya police nab 2 Manipuri with heroin worth Rs 1.6 cr

Police said they’re investigating the matter and trying to trace people who were going to receive the consignment.

Shillong: Two Manipuri women were arrested after heroin worth Rs 1.6 crore was seized from their possession in Meghalaya on Sunday, an official said. 

Acting on a specific input, sleuths of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and Khliehriat police carried out a joint operation at Nongsning area in East Jaintia Hills district and arrested two inter-state drug traffickers. 

On personal search, a woman police officer found that the two women had strapped drugs to their bodies, a police official said. 

Police said they’re investigating the matter and trying to trace people who were going to receive the consignment.

Meanwhile, police have booked the two arrested women under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
