Imphal: Health & IPR Minister, Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh joined the Sensitization and Awareness programme For Paramedics, an Initiative for Cervical Cancer Free NER, organized by The Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI) through webinar, Friday.
Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh attended the webinar as the chief guest while SMD, National Health Mission, Mizoram, Dr. Eric Zamawia, was the guest of honour. Well experienced medical specialists and gynaecologists of the country also joined the webinar and shared their knowledge and experiences on the topic.
The forum discussed the prevailing situation of cervical cancer in the north eastern states in particular. It may be mentioned that North Eastern states record the highest cases of cervical cancer in the country according to the national survey.
Minister Dr. Ranjan sharing his thoughts said that mass awareness and preventive measures need to be taken up in order to control the case of cervical cancer particularly in the north eastern states.
“Since the topographical feature of this region does not provide easy accessibility, we need more manpower and proper training. We have been using Tele Medicines as an alternative in these areas. Such a virtual platform will really help to achieve the objective”, he added.
Minister maintained that the government has launched health care schemes like Chief Minister’s Health For All, etc. It is a good initiative of the state government in the health sector. The Minister also extended his appreciation to FOGSI for organizing such a programme.
