Chandel: On the occasion of World Humanitarian Day on 19 August 2026—a global day dedicated to honoring aid efforts and protecting those who safeguard human life—Assam Rifles organised a Health Education and Awareness Camp at Don Bosco School, Lamphau Pasna, Chandel District, Manipur. Aligning with the universal spirit of humanitarian service, the initiative formed part of the Force’s ongoing community outreach to enhance health awareness, emergency preparedness, and basic life-saving capabilities among the younger generation.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 120 students, who attended interactive sessions designed to equip them with practical skills for medical emergencies and unforeseen situations. An awareness session on First Aid educated students on vital measures to assist injured or ill individuals prior to professional medical support, stressing the importance of remaining calm, evaluating the situation, and avoiding actions that could aggravate casualties.
Additionally, a dedicated session on Snakebite Management sensitised participants on identifying suspected cases, implementing immediate safety measures, ensuring safe transportation, avoiding harmful unscientific remedies, and seeking timely medical intervention. The initiative concluded with a practical demonstration on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), training students to recognise non-responsive casualties and initiate basic life-support measures. The interactive sessions fostered active participation and self-confidence, highlighting the importance of preparedness and responsible conduct in safeguarding lives and promoting community well-being.
