Shillong: The Directorate of Prosecution, Government of Meghalaya, conducted its first state-level training programme on e-Prosecution at the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI), Mawdiangdiang, with the objective of strengthening digital prosecution management and institutionalising prosecution services in the State.
The programme was organised in collaboration with NIC Shillong, the NIC e-Prosecution Team, New Delhi, and the State Crime Records Bureau (CCTNS IT Section), with participation from 120+ prosecutors from East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills, Ri-Bhoi, Eastern West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
The training covered the e-Prosecution Portal, its integration with CCTNS and other ICJS pillars, Duties and Responsibilities of Prosecutors, DUTR and court proceedings updates, data accuracy, and institutional monitoring. It also included live demonstrations and a hands-on practical workshop on the portal.
Resource persons included representatives of NIC Meghalaya, the NIC e-Prosecution Team, the Directorate of Prosecution and the CCTNS IT framework.
The programme received very positive feedback, with participating prosecutors expressing interest in more such practical sessions to strengthen prosecution capacity, improve digital case management and further institutionalise prosecution in Meghalaya. The programme concluded with an interactive feedback session and distribution of certificates.
The next phase of the training programme will be scheduled shortly for the prosecutors of the Garo Hills Districts, in collaboration with the same institutional partners—NIC Shillong, the NIC e-Prosecution Team, New Delhi, and the State Crime Records Bureau/CCTNS IT Section. The initiative is intended to ensure wider coverage and promote a uniform, digitally enabled and institutionalised prosecution system across Meghalaya.
The training marks an important step towards a stronger, more coordinated and digitally enabled prosecution system in Meghalaya.
