Imphal: Manipur on Thursday recorded 730 Covid-19 new cases and 10 deaths, pushing the total positive cases in the state to 58,081. On Wednesday, the state had recorded 775 fresh infections with seven fatalities, the lowest death count in a month.
India, in the last 24 hours, has reported 94,052 Covid-19 cases, and 6,148 deaths in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of deaths that the country has seen in a day since the start of the pandemic. The jump in deaths come after Bihar revised its toll on Wednesday, adding 3,951 previously uncounted deaths to its tally.
Ten persons – one each at Babina, Shija Hospital, District Hospital Thoubal and Churachandpur, two at RIMS and four at JNIMS expired during the last 24 hours. Among them six were from Imphal West, one each from Imphal Est, Churachandpur and two from Thoubal district.
Also, 9008 tests were conducted on Thursday to detect COVID-19, taking the total number of such tests conducted so far in the state to 7,92,403. It has been little higher than the previous day at 8,944, according to the bulletin released by the State Health directorate.
According to a health bulletin, 668 COVID-19 patients including 505 home isolations were discharged after 10 days completion in the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 47,797. The recovery rate stood at 82.29 per cent.
On the other hand, the number of active cases in the state increased to 52 at 9,359 from yesterday, of which 4,019 are in home isolation.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1345 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 521 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur. As per the latest information, a total of 10890 people were vaccinated, totaling the figure at 45,2635 so far in the state.
