Kamjong : In connection with the Jan Sammelan cum Nation-wide launch of Viksit Bharat -Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) [VB-G RAM G], at Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh today, presided by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Kamjong Administration organised a distrci level launching programme at the Mini-Secretariat Comlpex, Kamjong District Headquarter.
The programme was organised by District Programme Coordinator, Kamjong District.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kamjong, HL Jain, attended the launching event along with Nimmi Azingwungshi Khamrang, SDO Phungyar; A. Rohini Kumar, SDO Kasom Khullen; Subinson Sapam, SDO Sahamphung; Ningshimi Awungshi, Project Office, RD & PR, District Level Officers, village headmen, Church leaders and Job card holders among others.
HL Jain, while addressing the gathering, stated that the scheme ‘VB-G RAM G’ has been introduced with the objective of strengthening rural livelihoods while preventing distress migration by creating employment opportunities within villages. “This Scheme will focus on Water Security, Rural Development, Livelihood related infrastructure, and Extreme Weather Mitigation”, he stated.
He mentioned that under the scheme atleast 30 percent of job card holders will be from women population. He appealed to the residents of the district to avail the benefit of the scheme.
As a part of the launching programme, he also announced the commencement of improvement work of approach Road from Leiyatang Block F Road to Lucky House, Bungpa Khullen Village.
It may be noted that the scheme guarantees 125 days of wage employment per rural household per financial year, up from “not less than 100 days” under MGNREGA and mandated the average daily wage to not less than Rs. 300 per day. It also guarantees protection of farmers from severe labour shortages during peak sowing and harvesting season.
A five-minute video on VB-G RAM G was also shown as part of the event.
The District Administration Officials and other participants also witnessed the National launching programme of the VB-G RAM G through video conferencing.
