Manipur Governor lauds removal of ‘Disturbed Areas’ status from 15 police stations

Imphal: Manipur Governor La Ganesan Friday expressed his happiness over the removal of the ‘disturbed areas’ status from 15 Police Stations of the state.

The Police Stations from which “Disturbed Area” status have been withdrawn are Sekmai, Lamsang, Patsoi, Lamlai, Irilbung, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching and Jiribam.

As of now, the Disturbed Area had been withdrawn from 15 Police stations including 6 Police Stations withdrawn earlier i.e. Imphal, Lamphel, City, Singjamei, Porompat and Heingang. Interestingly, most of the areas from which the Disturbed Areas status was removed belonged to the valley districts.

In a statement, the Governor stated that the step was taken up following considerable improvement of the law and order situation in the State, “to fulfill the aspiration of the people of the State”.

Ganesan also expressed his full confidence that in due course the whole State will be free from any unwanted situation due to the invaluable cooperation from the people of the State.
