Imphal:  The 2nd batch training of Polling Officers of Kamjong District was held on Thursday at the Kamjong Election Hall (NIELIT Hall) located inside the Mini Secretariat, Ukhrul.

The Polling Officers will be on election duty at 78 polling stations of 43-Phunyar (ST) AC, the lone Assembly Constituency within Kamjong District, which goes on poll in the 2nd phase of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls scheduled on the 26th of this month.

The 1st batch of PO training was held yesterday at the same venue where 38 Polling Officers took part in the training.

During the training, SDO, Phungyar Rang David Kung, MCS, instructed the Polling Officers about the functioning of different parts of the EVM machine such as ballot unit, control unit and VVPAT. While cautioning for the possible issues arising out of improper handling of the EVM machines, the SDO exhorted the POs to  properly operate the EVMs as per ECI guidelines. The SDO also informed the POs about the duties of Polling Officers on poll day as prescribed by the Election Commission of India.

DEO/DC Kamjong, Rangnamei Rang Peter, IAS, while interacting with the Polling Officers, stated that the election-process is based on a well-planned strategy and hence there is no room for delay and distraction. So everyone on election duty must perform their duty diligently leaving aside their personal interest, the DEO added.

During the training, a Hands on Training on EVM was also conducted for the Polling Officers. A total of 30 POs took part in the training.
