Brussels: The EU does not have information about any banned programs in the biological laboratories of Ukraine, European External Action Service spokesperson Peter Stano told RIA Novosti.
According to the Russian military, there were about 30 laboratories on the territory of Ukraine fulfilling orders from the US Department of Defense.
US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland confirmed that there were biological research facilities in Ukraine, and the US was working to prevent them from falling under the control of Russian forces.
“We are aware of the statement of the Russian Defence Ministry regarding the alleged destruction of biological agents in laboratories in Ukraine,” Stano said.
“We are not aware of any programmes in Ukrainian laboratories that are not in line with the Biological Weapons Convention (BTWC).” According to Stano, such statements are treated with doubt in the EU.Â
