Imphal: Churachandpur District Police along with the District Administration, NAB and 1IRB today conducted Anti-Poppy Cultivation drive at Zalenkot, Sangaikot Subdivision, CCP. During the drive a total of 10 Acres approx was destroyed on Wednesday.
The drive was led by Lawrence K Munluo Addl SP(Ops) Churachandpur, Jangminlen Lupho, SDC-CCP HQ, Elvy Tunglut,OC-Sangaikot PS, Sub. Ginkhanlal Guite from 1IRB and SI Hitler Meetei of NAB under the supervision of Amrita Sinha, IPS SP-CCP., as kper a press note issued by the PRO Manipur Police, W Basu.
Meanwhile, on the same day, as part of the ongoing ‘war on drugs’ campaign by government, combined teams of Kangpokpi district police and other government agencies of Kangpokpi conducted massive poppy destruction drive today at Harup forest range covering several villages.
The joint teams numbering about 90 persons comprise of Addl. SP (L/O) Kpi, SDPO Gamnom Sapormeina and OC-Chalwa PS, SDO T. Waichong, RFO T Waichong, NAB, 38 Assam Rifles & 44 Assam Rifles. The teams destroyed about 60 acres of illegal poppy cultivation .A case has been registered at Kangpokpi PS in this regard, the a separate press note stated.
