Imphal: A joint team of Kangpokpi district police, NAB, Forest Department of Kangpokpi, SDC Kangpokpi under the supervision of P G Singsit IPS SP Kangpokpi conducted illegal poppy plant destruction drive at Haijang hill range Friday. The drive was led by Addl SP (Ops) Kangpokpi, DSP Kangpokpi and SDC Kangpokpi. About 45 acres of illegal poppy plants have been destroyed. An FIR has been taken up at Kangpokpi police station in this regard, said a press note from the PRO, Manipur Police.


Meanwhile, on the same day, another team comprising of District Police Chandel, NAB, NCB, 1 MR, 7 MR and SDO/KJI (all together 80 personnel) led by Augustine J Khongsai ASP/Chandel under the supervision of N Madhunimai Singh SP/Chandel conducted poppy destruction drive at Hollenjang-Henkot villages hill slope under Molcham PS and destroyed about 61 acres of poppy plantations.

In another instance, a combined team of Tengnoupal District Police, NAB, Manipur, 3IRB, 2nd MR and CDO Tengnoupal led by Sangboi, Addl SP (L O) Tengnoupal and officers consisting Inspector John Lamkang, OC Tengnoupal, Inspector DK. Angrung, OC Machi PS under the supervision of Th Vikramjit Singh, SP-Tengnoupal destroyed around 20 acres of illegal poppy plantations at the Hill Range of Nungtak village under Machi PS jurisdiction, the press note added.
