Churachandpur: The District Administration, Churachandpur, led by Krishna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, observed the International Yoga Day 2026 here today at the Panchayat Resource Centre, Mini Secretariat Complex, Churachandpur.
A trained yoga instructor conducted the session, which comprised a sequence of yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation techniques aimed at fostering physical vitality and mental clarity. All the government departments within the district observed the day in their respective offices, with maximum participation of staff members in the programme.
Speaking to media persons after the yoga session, the Deputy Commissioner said that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a holistic practice integrating postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation to promote overall well-being and mental clarity. He noted that practicing yoga regularly improves flexibility, strengthens muscles, corrects posture, and enhances immunity. It also helps reduce stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue, enabling individuals to remain calm and focused on their studies and daily activities. Emphasising its accessibility, he added that yoga can be practiced anywhere at home, in parks, or even in offices without the need for expensive equipment. All government, government aided, ADC and private schools under the jurisdiction of the Zonal Education Officer, Churachandpur, organized and participated in IDY 2026 celebrations from 6.30 a.m. to 7.45 a.m., with teachers, students, parents and staff taking part in the programmes
