Shillong: Meghalaya recorded six COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the death toll to 855 and 460 new cases raising the active number of cases to 4,585, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said on Saturday.
As many as 522 patients were recovered in the last 24 hours, surging the number of recovered cases to 45,596. The total caseload stands at 51, 035.
Among the deaths, four were reported in East Khasi Hills district and one each in East Jaintia Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.
He said the new COVID-19 cases detected, included the highest number of 190 in East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong and is the most affected district with 1,466 active cases and 632 fatalities.
There are still 794 active cases in Ri-Bhoi district, 623 active cases in West Jaintia Hills district cases and 545 cases in West Garo Hills district, while the other seven districts had less than 300 active cases each, Dr War added.
