Kakching: Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), commemorated the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor by organising a series of events across Kakching and Thoubal districts from 04 to 06 May 2026. The programmes honoured the courage, sacrifice and dedication of the security forces while fostering patriotism and awareness among the local population.
On 04 May, a Painting and Drawing Competition was held at Slopeland Public School, Khongjom, with 120 students participating enthusiastically. Their artwork reflected themes of patriotism, harmony and the significance of Operation Sindoor in ensuring peace and stability, providing young minds with a creative platform to connect with national values.
On 05 May, a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony was conducted at the Kakching War Memorial. Assam Rifles personnel paid tribute to the bravehearts of Operation Sindoor by laying floral wreaths, creating an atmosphere of reverence and remembrance that reaffirmed the collective resolve to honour sacrifices made in service of the nation.
On 06 May, a Weapon Display was organised at Battalion Headquarters, Phundrei, attended by 70 students and five teaching staff from Phundrei and Langathel villages. The interactive session familiarised participants with the operational role and capabilities of the Armed Forces, inspiring confidence and respect among the youth. The commemorative events highlighted the enduring legacy of sacrifice, promoted national pride and strengthened the bond between Assam Rifles and the local community
